Cycling
The beauty of the nature around Carrick-on-Suir is evident for all to see. From the mountains that surround it like the Knockmealdowns and The Comeraghs to the rivers that flow gently nearby, beauty is abundant.
To truly sample all of the delights, cycling offers the most rewarding experience to capture it all. Cycling allows you the chance to make life move at your pace, you can try and catch everything in a day, or take your time and see the Irish rural life at its quirkiest.
Carrick, also, has a long and proud tradition of cycling, through the famous Sean Kelly. Kelly, one of the world's greatest cyclists through the 1980s, has lent his name to the town square and the sports centre. Today, two very competitive cycling teams operate out of Carrick and continue to fly the flag for cycling in Carrick-on-Suir. A third cycling club exists in the town and is a more gentle affair for those people who still have a competitive streak but not the physique to compete and are known as the Carrick Wheelers Road Club, with Sean Kelly as a member.
Also, whether you are passing through Carrick-on-Suir on your way to another of the Southeasts many treasures or basing yourself here for your stay, a route exists that suit your experience, fitness and general enthusiasm for all things energetic.
