Carrick-on-Suir is a thriving town of 6,000 inhabitants serving a local community of some 10,000 people. The recent designation of a substantial tract of land for a biotechnology park is testament to Carrick-on-Suir's prospects. Many observers have recognised Carrick-on-Suir as having the critical ingredients of location, infrastructure and people that are required to support modern industry. The Economic Development Committee chaired by Jim Power economist is co-ordinating many initiatives that will result in further development of the commercial potential of the area.
